Volunteer

In the lead up to COP26 in Glasgow this November, we will continue working in solidarity with Nicaraguan small-scale farmers promoting food sovereignty, agroecology, and social transformation rooted in protecting people and the planet.

Our work will include: networking with UK-based climate coalitions; producing videos and hosting webinars; expanding social media outreach; fundraising for ATC projects; publishing articles, briefings and our magazine Nicaragua Now and sponsoring delegations to Nicaragua. The highlight of this year will be a speaker tour of the UK in the autumn by a representative of the Nicaraguan Rural Workers Association (ATC).

To expand our capacity in this critical year, we are looking for volunteers to support our work in the following ways:

Volunteering with us on a regular basis. We are currently recruiting volunteers for two posts:

  • Communications volunteers to write regular news and feature pieces for our website and to help with maintaining and expanding our social media [Job description]
  • Archives volunteer to help us systematise records of UK – Nicaragua solidarity in the 1980s and 1990s including documents, posters, briefings, banners, badges, exhibitions, flyers, t-shirts, mugs, and DVDs [Job description]

Occasional volunteering

  • Helping out with mailings and other administrative tasks in the NSC office in London
  • When it is safe to do so, helping out on stalls at events to promote our work
