Celebrating the 37th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution

Nicaraguans in their tens of thousands gathered in Managua on 19 July to celebrate the 37th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution. Most notable was the huge numbers of young people participating.
International guests included Venezuelan and El Salvadoran presidents Nicolás Maduro and Sánchez Cerén, and Cuban vice president Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Nicolás Maduro paid tribute to President Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo for their loyalty, perseverance, and continuity with the ideals of Augusto C. Sandino y Comandante Carlos Fonseca Amador.
Salvador's president Sánchez Cerén highlighted the importance for the whole region of the victory of the Nicaragua people over the Somoza dictatorship ‘opening a new era of justice and liberty.’
‘Before this enormous concentration of young faces, faces of hope, faces of victory, I bring in the name of my government and people our love and congratulations.’
‘The triumph of the Sandinista Revolution meant the opening of new paths not just for Nicaragua but for Latin America. You have demonstrated it is possible to turn ideals into reality.’
